Babies and dogs…what could be sweeter?
We already know that having a dog increases our enjoyment and quality of life but a family dog can be beneficial for children and babies as well.
A dog can provide hours of play and enjoyment for your little one. The interaction between the duo can also be quite entertaining for us.
Owning a dog teaches a child responsibility. Being taught to care for a puppy teaches a child to be caring and generous.
Children who grow up with a dog friend tend to have higher self-esteem.
In addition, research has shown that children have fewer allergies and colds when exposed to a dog in their first year and overall tend to be healthier.
It is important to note that the family dog should be acclimated to a child/baby and should have appropriate training on how to act around a little one.
Supervision of dog and baby playtime is required just in case your normally tolerant dog becomes a little upset when her fur is inadvertently pulled too hard by a playful baby or if the dog gets overly playful with your little one.
The interaction between canines and human babies/toddlers in the video below is amusing.
It is heartwarming to see puppy and baby asleep together in a rocker looking so content. The laughter of a baby/child in response to a dog’s antics is contagious.
The dogs don’t seem to have a care in the world and are very tolerant of the babies pulling on them and even biting their ears!
The taste of a dog’s ear must not have been good as the expression on her face is priceless.
Some of the dogs have a little something to say in response to his human’s voice.
The video below captures precious moments..both sweet and playful…of kids and canine companions. Enjoy!
