People do strange things, and sometimes their actions make little sense. Recently a man in Montgomery County, Texas took his dog back to the local shelter for reasons that included being too affectionate and never leaving his side. Most people adopt pets to have affection and company in their lives, so this seemed mystifying.

The man sited other reasons for bringing her back, including a chewed up sofa, cushions, and a baseboard. So he brought his dog, Jubilee, back and everyone at the shelter was sad and shocked such a sweet dog was unwanted.

But Jubilee’s story has a happy ending. The staff at the Montgomery County animal shelter said Jubilee had some anxiety issues, and her former owner was probably not the right fit for her. The Irish Setter’s anxiety could be the reason she never left her previous owner’s side. Now Jubilee would be able to get the help she needed to get better.

The next day, people shared Jubilee’s story over social media, and that same day, a lovely family adopted her. The one-year-old Irish Setter joins another family dog named Abby. New owner Samantha lives with her mother and teenage son. They were thrilled to get Jubilee and were happy she loved so much. Jubilee is much better off now with a family who understands her.

Samantha said she is planning to work with a special trainer to help the Irish Setter overcome her anxiety. She hopes in Jubilee will feel more confident and secure in her new home.

Jubilee’s story touched so many people, and dozens of families came into the shelter looking to adopt her. When the shelter told them the popular Irish Setter was already taken, those families went on to adopt other puppies in the Montgomery County shelter. A win all around!
