It’s always heartbreaking when a dog goes missing. What makes it worse if that lost dog was stolen. It’s a little difficult to understand why people would steal other people’s dogs. Maybe they’ve never felt a dog’s unconditional love; that’s why they don’t know how awful their crime is.
Good thing that nowadays, we have CCTVs and good Samaritans to help us with these kinds of cases. In Mesquite, Texas, a dognapping took place right in front of the dog owner’s home. Fortunately for the owner, the man who bought his dog was a kind soul.
The dog that was stolen right off their front yard was Chipper. The French Mastiff belongs to Matt Ivy, a firefighter at the Dallas Fire Department. During his spare time, he tends to his French Mastiff dogs. He was fascinated with the breed as a kid, and this has become his passion outside his career.
So you could imagine his heartbreak as he reviewed the security footage of Chipper being stolen. There were two perpetrators caught on tape. One of them boldly reached over Ivy’s fence and pulled Chipper out the yard. Once they had the pup, the two immediately drove off in a black SUV with the poor pooch.
Then they sold Chipper to a mechanic nearby for $300. After a few days, the mechanic saw the news and social posts that Matt had spread regarding Chipper. Then the man realized, the pup he just bough could be that stolen dog. Luckily, he was kind enough to do the right thing, despite spending money on the pooch.
He returned Chipper to Matt. The firefighter was ecstatic when he held Chipper in his arms once again. He was also touched by the selflessness shown by this kind stranger whom he never met. This is evidence that there are still good people out there who are ready to do the right thing if given a chance.
